Teaching – saxophone
In my saxophone teaching I use all kinds of musical material. Having been many, many years in the field of jazz and through my 18 years of playing with a classical saxophone quartet, I have experience to cover many kinds of wishes and deal with many kinds of problems. Every single student gets his or her own tailored, custom-made practicing program, paying attention to the realistic amount of time that the student has.
We play Bach, Händel and other things from the baroque, we play jazz tunes, pop tunes, Swedish folk tunes and many other things. Add to this a lot of tunes and exercises that I write myself to the particular student.
It is important to work with musical material which is manageable, so that one does not lose courage. Well, it is nice to be challenged, but not nice to be turned over. It is vital to feel progress, but also vital to keep interest and pleasure alive. So it is q question of balance. That is - in short - my teaching philosophy.
